White Oak Library
The White Oak Library has much to offer Carillon residents. Books can be borrowed from the nearest library branch (either
Romeoville on Normantown Road or
Crest Hill on Weber Road),the Carillon Clubhouse, or electronically through the internet onto an appropriate electronic book reader.
OUTREACH SERVICES
White Oak Library’s Outreach Services comes to Carillon’s clubhouse lobby once a month. The visit is on the second Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. While the Library is visiting, residents can:
- Register or renew a Library card
- Return materials
- Pickup materials placed on hold
- Check out from a small selection of popular materials: fiction and non-fiction books, large print fiction books, books-on-CD, and videos
- Place holds on materials
- Find out information about the Library, Library programs, and its services
The library brings books for the Carillon Book Club. For those who are part of a book club, the library may be able to assist with obtaining materials or bringing library books for any of your other clubs.
Librarians provide information about devices (i.e.: iPad, Kindle, etc.). Several times a year, librarians from the Adult Services Department visit the clubhouse and do short demonstrations and answer technical questions.
Librarians also make home deliveries for those unable to make it to the clubhouse. Delivery is on the same day White Oak Library comes to Carillon.
HOW TO USE A COMPUTER
The library has many programs to benefit seniors, most notably, computer classes for seniors at the Weber Road branch. Many residents who were not computer literate have favorably commented on the length of each class, the amount of material taught and patience of the staff. You do not need to own a computer. The library supplies computers in the class and Carillon has computers available at the clubhouse.
