Ashford

BACKGROUND

Ashford at Carillon was developed by Cenvill Illinois Corporation in 1989. Ashford was the first single-family association.  Ashford has 85 beautiful stand-alone single-family homes made up of the following four styles starting with the largest to the smallest: Columbus with loft (1986 sq. ft.), Columbus without loft (1589 sq. ft.), Cartier (1523 sq. ft.), Drake (1483 sq. ft.), and the Bering (1446 sq. ft.).  The Drake and Bering have either one-car or two-car garages; the other homes each have two-car garages.  All styles have two bedrooms and two baths; the Columbus with loft has three baths and possibly three bedrooms. 

All of Ashford was completed prior to Cambridge. Ashford’s first residents moved in the last quarter of 1989.  All of CAMA has a newsletter, ‘Talk of the Town’, which was named as such by having a ‘naming’ contest.  This newsletter provides us with information about activities and news going on in the various communities as well as all the CAMA activities.  

MANAGEMENT

Ashford is managed by Foster Premier.  We have a Board of Directors elected by the homeowners and is made up of seven members: President, Vice President (Architectural & Covenants); Secretary; Treasurer; Security Chair; Building& Grounds Chair and CAMA Chair.  Board Members responsibilities were approved and established in 1989 and since updated. We also have Social Committees who are responsible for all Ashford activities.   We have Board meetings each month and Association meetings every other month.  All work needed in Ashford is by soliciting bids and selecting the best offer that meets all of our needs. 

Ashford has low monthly assessments fees. Each resident is responsible for their own lawn care and snow removal service.  This service is a contract for the entire association decided by the Board, but each resident provides their own monthly payment.  We have a few original residents who prefer to do their own lawn care and snow removal; however, upon sale of that property the new owners will no longer have that option.  Ashford provides snow removal of our streets and sidewalks, tree trimming of the parkway trees and garbage removal.

We have a reserve fund that is to be used for new streets, curbs, parkway trees (removal/replacement), sidewalks and other common ground.  At least 10% of our monthly assessments are put into our reserve fund.

ASHFORD’S HUMAN FACE

Our main Activity committee plans a dinner for each of our Association meetings.  This dinner brings out many members who may not otherwise attend. We have various committees who plan our monthly men’s and women's breakfasts, summer picnic and our annual lovely Christmas sit-down dinner with entertainment as well as other functions throughout the year.  Many willingly volunteer to help with all sorts of activities.

You can be as active or inactive as you choose to be.  We have tennis courts, bocce ball courts, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, two outdoor pools, one indoor pool, a pond stocked with fish all available for our use. Some of our residents are involved in theatre, ceramics, woodworking and billiards.  There are many places to walk throughout Carillon and of course the golf course is available to all.

Our future is in the hands of our committed residents to make Ashford a wonderful place in which to live. We have numerous people from other communities who have said they enjoy walking through Ashford because of our many beautiful trees and landscaping.
